Reviews
My first review after numerous visits to the Chatterbox over the years. Cara was a terrific host! We grabbed some wine, no food this visit. The bbq smells coming out of the kitchen were very enticing!! The interior of the Chatterbox could use a facelift but I guess that’s what makes it an “institution “!
Chatterbox is actually one of the most amazing places in Minneapolis. South Minneapolis for sure, but this is a temporary and very true review of my latest experience there. So if the band called Steve Miller or the man who runs and owns the place want to reach out? I'd love to talk about it but it went from a place I liked to a place I loved it admired to a place I've been abused by when they knew I was in the middle of being abused by my family and needed a place to be safe - all in a week. I was similarly dismissed from the restaurant when I hadnt insulted or raised my voice at anyone much less put hands on them simply because I looked like a homeless person and I am a filthy vagrant but I'm not that dirty thatI can't be in a restaurant. I wasn't talking dirty other than talking through his people don't like to hear like in Minneapolis. You got to be careful because a lot of people don't realize they're driving down, stolen land and might be running over one of the people that actually belongs to who sometimes are vagrants. That doesn't mean they're worth less than other human beings and there certainly worth more than 30 seconds of inconvenience because they happen to choose to cross in the middle of the road today and you saw them from two blocks away. You certainly don't treat people in the service industry where they do it well at chatterbox most nights by taking their order, serving them their food and then before they can order their second round of drinks cut them off from made up something I'm pretty sure about the back of my driver's license is my first. I can't have service then my friend can't get service for no reason that's articulable other than the server at a whim doesn't feel like serving us anymore. Caprice! At least they didn't try to charge me for the breach of contract that they were going to serve me two and a half hours of a beautiful time just like usual
Looks like a cute place stopped by but they stated they were on a 30 minute wait however when I walked around to see the place as I had never been and there were several open tables. Not sure why they refused to seat us but I won’t be back as it was quite a drive. Even host shrugged his shoulders did not know why he couldn’t seat us.
Great place for everyone. Great 🍺 beers. food is good. Let's not forget about the games and the wonderful atmosphere. A must place to visit when in MPLS. It's been around for 100 years. Also great entertainment through the week like open mic and karaoke 🎤.
The grilled cheese sandwich turned out to fully live up to it's name, "The Perfect Grilled Cheese". The tomato soup it came with was also a winner.
My husband is a very picky eater and RARELY can eat a meal out at a restaurant without having something negative to say about it. This was the first time in - I don't even know how long - that he fully enjoyed his meal and he actually said it REALLY was the perfect grilled cheese and soup combo.
I'm blown away! 😮
We had a lobster sandwich and a Kentucky beer cheese burger with soup and fries. We also had an IPA and some sours. For appetizer we had pretzel with beer cheese. The food was delicious. We ate it all. The customer service was really good. We chatted with the server a lot and had a really fun experience. I'll definitely be coming back for drinks and food!
The back room of the restaurant is depressing. Table was sticky. Food was lukewarm which is gross. Even worse is there was a hair in my boyfriend’s mashed potatoes. Disgusting. The fries we ordered were again, lukewarm, yet some were rock hard and inedible. The service was fine, nothing worth noting. Won’t be back.
One of the best pub burgers I’ve ever had. Staff was super friendly. Fun to play some old school Nintendo as well. Karaoke invaded our space and cut our night short. That was the only downside ( Thur nights)
